First Lady's Corner

Rev. Donna Hill is a native of Prince George’s County and as a child growing up, loved to nurture animals and help people. Her mother would tell her, “You’re going to be a veterinarian or nurse one day.” Though she never officially pursued either field, her position as a Minister allows her to combine her desire to be a healer, helper and nurturer.

Rev. Donna received the Lord and got baptized at the age of 19 at Corinthian Baptist Church in Oakland, California.  While at Corinthian, she sang in the choir, served as President of the Youth Department and was a member of the Missionary Board. Though she loved serving at Corinthian, in 1990, she was led by the Lord to return to Prince George’s County.  She united with New Chapel Baptist Church and has served faithfully as a former Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Choir Member, Academy Principal and Christian Education Instructor.  She currently serves as the First Lady of New Chapel, co-Executive Director of New Chapel Christian Academy, Director of the Counseling Ministry, Member of Ministerial Staff, “We Still Care” Mentor and Spiritual Advisor to the Women’s Ministry. In addition, Rev. Donna is the former Quality Assurance Advisor to Y.E.L.L and served as the Celebrate Recovery Leader at “The Chapel” for five years from March 2008 until March 2013. She will continue this role again as Celebrate Recovery resumes in May of 2014.

Her thirst for spiritual and educational knowledge came to fruition in 1994, when she graduated from Prince George’s Community College, earning an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies. Two years later, in 1996, she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Afro-American Studies. She continued her quest and earned her Master degree in Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1999.

Rev. Donna was ordained a Reverend on January 22, 2006, after being licensed to preach since the year 2000. To accent her biblical studies, she attended Howard University School of Divinity for three semesters. In addition, she received her Evangelism Diploma from New Chapel Institute of Christian Education in July of 2006. Also known for being a savvy business woman, Rev. Donna was selected to participate in Leadership Prince George’s, a one-year program that enhances leadership skills among county leaders.  She graduated from the program in June of 2006.

Active in her community as well, Rev. Donna was appointed to serve a four year term as a Parole Commissioner for the state of Maryland in September 2010 and was reappointed in March of 2014 for another six years. She also served as a member of the Prince George’s Community College Foundation Board from September 2010 – September 2012. Also, in 2011, she was appointed by the Maryland Parole Commission to briefly serve as a member of the Re-Entry Feasibility Committee governed by the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County.

Rev. Donna is a woman of great humility and loves the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul. She gives God all the glory and honor for her achievements in life and in her ministry. She is a devoted wife and is happily married to her high school sweetheart, the Rev. Dr. Kerry A. Hill.  Through their union, they have been blessed with one son, Keon Dakari Hill.
